The Washingtonian just published a “Bucket List” of 50 things every local needs to do. I have done 30 of the 50. What do yo think about the list? There are a few things on here that I hadn’t heard of before like the Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival. Anything you would add?

The United States Air Force Memorial
I rode my bike up to this monument last year. The spires represent jet trails. It’s really a worthwhile visit.
This post is one in a series of Ten 3-Mile Walks Around Washington, DC. The pins in the map below show where I stopped to take pictures but also serve to outline the route!
This route begins at the Pentagon City Mall and crosses under I-395 through a pedestrian tunnel. It skirts the Pentagon Reservation and ascends Arlington Heights along the southern edge of Arlington National Cemetery.
Built to resemble the contrails of three Air Force jets performing the “Missing Man Maneuver” for a fallen 4th pilot, the United States Air Force Memorial is a beautiful work of art, engineering marvel, and hallowed place of honor. It is set on a hill in Arlington, VA overlooking the Pentagon and beyond that the city of Washington, DC.
Our walk began at a shopping center, the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, or Pentagon City Mall. Because this walk takes you…

Client Testimonial for Northern Virginia
One of the things I really love about real estate is the personal satisfaction that comes from helping a client navigate through a stressful and sometimes difficult transaction. Relocating can be stressful enough. These folks have children and dogs and were moving all the way across the country. If warms my heart when I can help someone like this. I sold these folks home at the end of last year. Can I help you?
“As a government employee, I have moved many times. Jane helped me buy this house when I moved to the area and I was so pleased with her performance then that I used her to sell my house when I moved away. Once again, Jane did a fantastic job, helping us navigate several difficult issues that arose during the sale. She is a true professional and definitely earned her commission on this one! I have recommended Jane to others moving to the Capital area and will use her again myself if I ever move back to Virginia. She is top-notch and Century 21 is lucky to have her.”

Days on Market way up from last year in Arlington
Here’s a snapshot of the January real estate market provided by the multiple listing system. Prices and volume were up from last year but the days on market have increased significantly. Hint, hint…if you want to sell your home quickly, consider pricing it at or just below the comps. It is likely to have a significant effect on your days on market.
I really like you
Couldn’t resist posting this. This is how I feel about my clients. I really, really, really do like them. So upbeat. You gotta love Tom Hanks…well I do anyway.
Arlington, Va March Board meeting highlights
Items of interest that the Arlington County Board will consider at its March Board Meeting, on Saturday, March 14 and Tuesday, March 17. View the full Agenda, and staff reports.
Saturday, March 14 Regular Meeting
(Note: this meeting starts at 8:30 am with public comment. Agenda Items will be heard no earlier than 9 a.m.)
Parking tickets: The County Manager is recommending that the County Board amend the County’s Motor Vehicles and Traffic Ordinance so that the County can establish a process that will make it easier to get a Court date if your parked car is cited for expired safety inspection, registration or personal property tax decals. Read the Report for Item #14 on the Regular Agenda.
Replacing Wendy’s and Wells Fargo Bank at 2026 and 2038 Wilson Blvd. (in the Courthouse area) with a 12-story office building that will feature ground floor retail, including a rebuilt Wells Fargo Bank. The County Manager is recommending that the Board approve the proposed redevelopment of the two parcels.
If approved, the redevelopment would provide a public plaza at the intersection of North Courthouse Road and Wilson and Clarendon boulevards. The developer has committed to making about $800,000 in contributions to the County’s Affordable Housing Fund (AHIF) and $557,000 toward open space in the Courthouse area, and toward public art. Development rights would also be transferred from the Wakefield and Courthouse Manor apartments, ensuring the historical protection of those apartments, built in the 1930s. Read the Report for Item #27 on the Regular Agenda.
Tuesday, March 17 Recessed Meeting
At the 3:30 session
The County Board Chair, members of the County Board and the County Manager will report on items of interest.

Like to Garden? Here’s an opportunity in Arlington
I love to garden. It’s the main reason I still live in a single family house. I’ve put in big mulch beds and filled them with lots of native and other butterfly and bird attracting plants. For those who don’t have a garden that they can get their therapy in, or who just can’t get enough of it, Arlington offers you an opportunity to assist them with the removal of invasive species (and boy do we have a ton of those).
