Congratulations to Tom and Jody on the Purchase of their new home.

Big congratulations to my clients Tom and Jody on the April 8 purchase of their new home in Burke, Va. This it the third time I’ve helped these folks buy or sell a home. The market in this area has been very good for sellers so we needed to work hard to find them a home. It’s a great spot, backing to woods and with all the amenities of Burke Centre.  I love my clients!

Arlington, Va Real Estate Statistics for February 2016

The real estate statistics are in. February is often a slow month and this is reflected in the sales volume. Year over year volume was down a little over 10% to $80.8M from $90.2M. The average sold price crept up just slightly from $601,964 to $607,690. Not enough volume or price change to reflect a significant trend. Units sold dropped to 133 from 150 and average days on market went from 63 to 74. Attached homes sold price went from $920,279 to $874,541 a drop of almost 5% and attached average sold price went  from $465,975 to $496,975 up 6.75%.

As a seller if you are going to take anything away from these #sFebruarystatistics you might think that you should consider listing your detached home at recent comps and if you’ve got a condo you may be looking at a little bit more if prices keep going up.

There is not enough volume in February to make any real trend predictions though so we’ll have to keep a lookout for March statistics to see where the spring market is heading.

Free Peeps at the Westover Farmers Market in Arlington

WFM newsletter ad image

Many of you know that I am one of the original sponsors for our local Westover Farmer Market in Arlington, Va., and this is my third year as a sponsor. The market is a great service to the community and I am proud to be associated with it. All of the vendors come from within a 125 mile radius so when they say the produce is fresh and local…they mean it. It’s located at the intersection of Mckinley and Washington Blvd.

It’s a slow day with the cold weather but stop by and see some of great vendors including bakeries, produce and Number One Son’s pickled products (you must try the Kim Chee…seriously, it’s my favorite…just don’t breathe on anyone afterwards. The garlic is intense, yum).

Please stop by the Sponsors booth where you can pick up a package of free Peeps courtesy of me!  The man in the photo is Robert Swenson who is the markets Marketing Manager and the two ladies are volunteers and from Yorktown High. Stop by and say hello and thank them for manning the booth on this cold spring morning. Happy Peep-ing.
